Weda Lewis Hollis, 85, died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala.
Mrs. Hollis was a member of Sulligent First Baptist for many years and a lifelong resident of the Sulligent area. She was born in Detroit, Ala., to the late Ellie Hue and Mary Jane Northington Lewis and was the wife of the late Rufus W. Hollis. She retired from the Bank of Sulligent and enjoyed her free time using her special gift of creating beautiful needle work. She loved making special gifts of hand-crafted art for her friends and family.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth (Randy) Sheppard of Centerville, Ga. and Linda (Jerry) Hudson of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; one sister, Opal Knight of Hamilton, Ala.; Seven grandchildren, Scott (Cindy) Davis of Union Point, Ga., Mark Davis of Sulligent, Ala., Steven Davis of Sheffield, Ala., Stacey (Ken) Hamner of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Brian (Karen) Hudson of Charleston, S.C., Katie (Vincent) Tesson of Auburn, Ala., and Kevin Hudson of Memphis, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Reid Davis, Logan Davis, Harper Hamner, and Claire Hamner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Audrey Kerr, and a brother, William Bankhead Lewis.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Norwood Funeral Home in Sulligent, Ala., with Rev. Danny Knight and Rev. Jeff Chaffin officiating. Burial in the Sulligent City Cemetery.
