J. E. Chaffin age 88 of Guin, AL died Sunday, December 20, 2009 in the Golden Living Center in Winfield. 

Born in Lamar County, AL.  He is the Son of the late Susan Taylor and James E. Chaffin Sr.  He had lived in Guin most of his life and was a Veteran of World War II having served in the US Army.  He used the GI Bill to start his farming career and later became a plumber and electrician.  He was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed growing tomatoes.  He was a member of the Mt. Willing Free Will Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his Wife, Dorothy Christian Chaffin of Guin, AL, A Daughter, Sheila (Terry) Young of Mary Ester, FL, 2 Grandchildren, Everett Eugene “Butch” (Lea) Chaffin, Jr. and Misty (Josh) Nichols all of Mobile, AL, 4 Great Grandchildren, Cayla, Chloe, Carlee and Veronica, and a Sister, Stella Reese of Guin, AL. 

He was also preceded in death by 2 Sons, Michael Chaffin and Everett Eugene “Butch” Chaffin Sr. and 2 Brothers, Stelfer and Garvin Chaffin. 

Services held Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 1:00 pm from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Fairview Cemetery.  Bro. Scott Stokes officiating.
